What does Takeru's tattoo mean?

I'm not really sure if this fits under the "help" category...so sorry...

Takeru has a tattoo of a butterfly on his chest and I remember hearing that it had something to do with his disorders and heart problems. I'm not sure if it's true, so does anyone have any idea what it means? I also heard that he hates butterflies (which doesn't make sense to me...), so I don't think he'd get it just to get it, you know? So does anyone have any idea of the meaning?

I don't know that he's ever confessed the meaning, he usually just says, "oh yeah it's personal, whatevz"

i suspect that because the butterfly is drawn as if it's emerging from his chest that it has something to do with freedom or freeing himself. Butterflies also tend to represent things like freedom, beauty, etc. I don't personally think Takeru would get a tattoo to commemorate something like his own physical illness. It may be relevant to it, but not strictly. If that makes sense. The little halo of light it's coming out from has always caught my eye though... It's definitely not "there is a butterfly on my chest," but "there's a butterfly coming out from my chest"
Alternatively, the butterfly could be entering his chest, which could represent something carried with him in his heart, like a loved one or experience or something like that. Personally I like this idea better, because traditionally Japanese tattoos are used to tell a story of your life. They are there to commemorate a person or experience that they don't want to forget, and that they are proud enough to wear on their body for everyone to see. EG, a friend, a parent, a war, your children, etcetc blahblah. Even now that mentality is sort of there in Japanese culture, it's just that younger people like ink their experience in trendier fashions.

Although I still wouldn't put it past Takeru to get a tattoo just cause he likes them. You never know what this dude will pull.

Anyway, I don't know the real reason, so I could be totally off. (´ヮ`)

I think its because of his heart. I'm not sure what the disease does, but I think it makes his heart beat very fast, like a butterflies wings. Thats why its in the place it is. But I dont know for certain~

From what I've heard, Takeru doesn't like to talk about it and will avoid any questions he's asked about it. So obviously it means something extremely personal and private to him.
I'm sure when he's ready (if he ever is) to explain it, he will.
Until then people will just have to guess (and probably get it wrong) the meaning of it.

I always feel sad when i hear people talk about Takeru's heart disorder. The fact that he has one scares me and makes me uncomfortable. I don't know why, but it always happens. I don't know if it's serious or not, but I don't like to think about it. I think Takeru's tattoo is just beautiful, and if it's that personal to him, just leave it alone

It scares me too to be honest. I get really worried when he even gets a cold. I think it's a normal reaction when you care about someone. But he's a fighter! And we know he wont give in to it.

I agree and I almost wish it didn't have something to do with his heart disorder because it scares me too. When I first found out about it I cried...especially because he has ataxia from a car accident and depersonalization disorder too. I don't think he wants the fans to worry, though, otherwise he wouldn't be putting that dorky smile on his face all the time, so I try not to let his health problems get to me. and @totchieroll, don't worry. we were all probably thinking the same thing deep down.

Takeru is a notorious drama queen and hypochondriac.

So while I have NOT seen a legitimate source for most of his "illnesses", I also don't know that I'd believe him if I did see. Not that he's a liar, but he is definitely an exaggerator.

For example, the rumor is that he has ataxia? First of all, I can't find a proper source on that. Secondly, that would mean he is physically imbalanced or uncoordinated. You've all seen Takeru, you've seen how he moves and how he talks, and have you ever once noticed anything abnormal about the way he functions? I highly doubt he's ataxic. Clumsy maybe, but not ataxic.

So I would definitely say you don't have anything to worry about as far as chronic diseases go.

By the way feel free to prove me wrong if you think you can, it's just important to me as it is to you. I just look at it from another angle. (’-U-‘)

yeahh totally.. I see what chu mean. I don't disagree, but I don't agree either. I'm sort of arguing with myself lol. I know that he got into a car accident when he was 14, and I can't see him lying about something like that and ataxia is caused by things like that, so I believe he has it, especially because it isn't always obvious. Honestly, I think I believe that he has all the disorders that have been said, and when he does exaggerate, I think it's generally for humorous purposes. I don't doubt he has them because it's just a feeling I have, and despite the fact I don't know him personally, it just sort of seems he's too good a person to lie about serious things like that. People that supposedly know him have put out this information about him, and I'm gonna take their word for it, and just hope they aren't lying. It almost seems kinda morbid to lie about things like it because there are real people out there with these health issues. So, unless it is somehow proved wrong, with some solid proof, I'm gonna believe he has these problems because he really just seems too kind to lie about something like this. All in all, I really don't think there's a way any of us can disprove any of the others opinions because none of us know Takeru in person. We're just gonna have to stick to our opinions and respect each others.

Of course I'm not saying Takeru lies, but since the source of this info isn't necessarily Takeru, who knows ヾ(●ε●★）
But also, since he's very hypochrondriac, he may exaggerate his conditions without meaning to... i've spent years stalking him following his blog and stuff, and I can say he can be a little bit weird when it comes to being sick or in pain. If he's so weird to his doctors, especially when it comes to mental disorders like depersonalization with no clinical symptoms, there's definitely a chance for misdiagnosis, in which case he may honestly believe he has a disease he doesn't.
Anyway I hope I didn't come off as disrespectful, because I didn't mean to be. And I think we're getting to the point where I'm sticking my nose too far into theories and what-ifs, so I'm gonna back off before I end up saying something really stupid w Honestly it really touches me to see how much fans like you guys care and how highly you regard him, and I'm sure he feels the same way, so on his behalf, thank you (´ω‘人)
