Re: Can someone help me learn Japanese?
We're all still learning Japanese ourselves.
A good website to use is http://japanese.about.com/
Also, if you write something down 64 times then you remember it. Thats been proven by scientists, so doing that with things like words, hiragana, katakana and kanji helps a lot!

練習でぺらぺらになる!! Practice makes perfect!
Spend a lot of time listening to native speakers. Watch subbed anime/dorama/interviews, etc, that interest you, and pay attention to the speech patterns. You'll build up your vocabulary and understanding of syntax without even realizing it!
Practice hiragana and katakana. Start by trying to memorize ten letters a week, and add more or take away some if you feel it neccessary. You want to challenge yourself, but you also don't want to try too many at once! Make flash cards, and use them to practice reading. Remember, writing the letter is useless if you can't read it. Try to make words with the letters you know; it's easier to remember words than sounds. Learn hiragana first, then katakana. You'll notice a lot of katakana letters are simplified versions of their hiragana counterparts. I practiced my hiragana/katakana by writing down song lyrics I had memorized!
Remember that everyone learns at their own pace, so don't be frustrated if you have trouble. Keep trying!
Why are you learning Japanese? Do you plan on taking the JPLT? If so, you should practice kanji based on JPLT levels. If you're not planning on taking it, or if you don't even know what it is, you're probably better off studying kanji by grade level, which is the way Japanese children learn in school. You can find lists of JPLT level and grade level appropriate kanji online. Make flashcards. Remember, stroke order matters! if the list you find doesn't list the stroke order, you can look it up at mahou.org by searching the kanji. Once you're confident with the kanji, try inserting them in words or entire sentences. Kanji... is difficult, so you'll really have to stick to it.
Do a lot of reading. Twitter, Nau, Ameba, etc, will help you quickly pick up on commonly used kanji and phrases. I learn new words on Ameba all the time, especially slang words, just from reading bandman blogs. Use Japanese here too! I teach myself a lot by updating my Ameblo; it gives me a reason to learn new vocabulary and grammar.
Once you're confident in basic grammar, I suggest you find someone to speak Japanese with. Don't be shy! There's a lot of Japanese people who would love to speak with foreigners, and who will be patient with you. Speaking with a native speaker, especially one who is around your age, will increase your fluency a lot.
what else can i say? i've said so much. =W=; This is just what I do to learn. もちろんまだぺらぺらじゃないけど、毎日練習してことできっと上手になってと思います。6年間ぐらい勉強しています。やっぱ難しいですが、日本語が本当に分かりたい!!だから、あきらめない!だから、あきらめないで!がんばって! If you ever have any questions or need any help, I'm far from fluent, but I can try to help, and I'm always happy to!
Anyway please excuse me if sound completely retarded because I probably do (=___=

Re: Can someone help me learn Japanese?
actually, Natsu, you sound a lot smarter then I do. thanks for the tips, but I will have to write this down. also there aren't any Japanese people in my community, literally. But i will try my best, thanks for the help ^-^
BTW trust me, I recognize almost all the Japanese symbols, but I can't remember what they mean. You can type and have a convo with some one in Japanese, so you know much more than I do.
If only I had friends to learn Japanese with.

honestly. I would say get Japanese for Dummies. I speak pretty decent Japanese from it and would be able to hold up a conversation.

Re: Can someone help me learn Japanese?
Like Natsu said, it helps if you read japanese. E.g, trying to translate jrockers blog posts or tweets is good practice. Translating your fav jrockers posts is a lot more intresting than translating from a textbook, so you'll find it easier to remeber. If you do it a lot, you'll find you pick up some kanji/hiragana/katakana. Its hard, but when you get it right its really satisfying!
(btw I'm nowhere near fluent or anything, just thought I'd share some tips)

Re: Can someone help me learn Japanese?
These are some helpful games I sometimes use to help me remember Hiragana. Theres also games for Katakana and one for Kanji numbers.
http://www.learn-hiragana-katakana.com/
Also it's good if you stick up a chart on your wall of what you're trying to learn at the time. Like right now I have a basic hiragana chart above my laptop on the wall.
Another good place to help with looking up kanji is http://www.saiga-jp.com/kanji_dictionary.html
